Pre-Sessional Programmes
British Universities
During the summer vacation and in the Autumn Term, we assist a number of students in applying to Oxford and Cambridge, with specialist preparation courses - usually ahead of the early application deadline in October, or the interview sessions, which are generally in November and December.
The tuition is individual or in very small groups of two or three students. All the tutors involved are themselves graduates of Oxford or Cambridge, and are very experienced tutors. These programmes include:
-
Intensive tuition in the subject(s) students intend to apply for
-
Preparation for written entrance tests, if applicable (eg. ELAT, TSA, LNAT)
-
Personal Statement guidance and feedback
-
Practice interviews
We also offer preparation programmes for students applying to other universities in the UK. We teach nearly thirty different subjects, including in the Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences, and STEM.
These short-term university preparation programmes are generally between 2 and 4 weeks in duration.
For students wishing to join for longer-term preparation (ie. 1 or 2 academic years), please see the Full-Time Academic Programmes page. All long-term students (8 weeks or more) are allocated a personal tutor, who is responsible for general guidance, study skills support, and University applications.
University Foundation Programme in Business
Our University Foundation Programme in Business offers guaranteed progression to undergraduate programmes at around 20 UK universities, including Oxford Brookes, which is a popular option. The programme has modules in Academic English, Maths, Economics, and Business, as well as Study Skills.
Upon successful completion, and award of the Diploma, students can progress to programmes in Business Studies, Management, Finance, and other related subjects. The course duration is one academic year, making the Foundation a popular alternative to the traditional A-Level route, for students who wish to focus on a more limited range of subjects.
British Boarding Schools
A student preparing for a British School would normally combine tuition in English Language at the appropriate level with three to five academic subjects, and Study Skills. The balance of subjects is designed to meet the needs of each student. Normally s/he would receive 20-25 lessons a week, depending on the subject mix.
We can assist with school placement if required, and arrange practice sessions for the interviews.
For younger students preparation for Boarding School entrance tests and interviews usually includes Verbal or Non-Verbal reasoning, together with English and Maths. We can also give support for preparation for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations, and for the UK ISET (Independent Schools’ Entry Test).
